Welcome

EmmrichI am delighted to announce that the World Conference on Regenerative Medicine (WRM) will be held from October 29th to October 31st, 2009 in Leipzig. The Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology is once again organizer and host of this scientific event. Much to our pleasure, the Translational Center for Regenerative Medicine (TRM) Leipzig has become co-organiser of this major event. Additionally many international and national scientific societies support the conference.

The previous three World Congresses on Regenerative Medicine established the basis for Leipzig to develop to a well-known location for international meetings in the field of regenerative medicine. To attract in particular Asian colleagues, the World Congress is taking place in Bangkok in spring of this year. However the World Conference on Regenerative Medicine will continue the tradition in Leipzig in autumn of 2009, a year full of important anniversaries regarding the German history. Several top-notch scientists already have agreed to participate in the World Conference on Regenerative Medicine.

Regenerative Medicine with its manifold trend-setting subjects that span from Tissue Engineering to Nanomedicine is a rapidly growing field. Offering a platform to present and discuss the latest findings is essential for the translation of bench research into clinical practice. Therefore a central goal of the conference is to bring together research and industry. To this end, the congress offers an extensive industry exhibition.

Leipzig as one of Europe’s excellence centres for regenerative medicine offers premier conditions for events concerning regenerative medicine, biotechnology and life sciences. The Fraunhofer IZI represents a contract research institute which is service, product and clinic oriented in the fields of cell therapy, stem cell biology and immunology. In addition to the Fraunhofer IZI, the city of Leipzig offers three major research institutes which have a primary or central focus in regenerative medicine. These include the Translational Centre for Regenerative Medicine, the Biotechnical and Biochemical Centre as well as several departments at the University of Leipzig. Finally, many biotechnology companies have settled here.

In addition to its excellent biotechnological and medical infrastructure, Leipzig has the charm to make your stay a unique experience. Discover the famous old city and take a look at the new emerging University building with the integrated rebuilt Pauline chapel, which restores the one destroyed by an undemocratic decision in 1968. Please note that 2009 is the 600th anniversary of the Leipzig University which is planning many commemorative unique and attractive events around the campus and the city center.

We would like to invite you warmly to participate in the World Conference on Regenerative Medicine 2009. On this homepage you can find the main topics and core issues of the conference. We are looking forward to welcoming you in Leipzig in October 2009.

Yours sincerely
Prof. Dr. Frank Emmrich
